Genealogical Research in the Diocese Rendsburg-Eckernförde
Until the nationwide introduction of registry offices on the 1st. January 1876, parish records were the only official documents regarding births, marriages and deaths in our diocese. Some parishes possess records dating back to 30 Years’ War, some have books with records dating from around 1700, and others began documentation in 1763. Due to the age of the books and their frequent use for genealogical research, some of the volumes are in a fragile condition. For this reason, parish records were archived on film several years ago and are available for research in microfiche format.
Fees for use of the diocese archive:
- each visit of up to 4 hours duration = 5,00 euro
- each visit over 4 hours duration = 10,00 euro
- reader-printer-copies of microfiche = 1,00 euro per copy
On request, we will be happy to conduct ancestor searches on your behalf.
